StraightNumbers

Terms of Use

Version 1.0 · Effective 18 June 2026

These terms govern your use of StraightNumbers. By using the software you agree to them. They are written in plain English and are a summary of the arrangement, not legal advice.

What StraightNumbers is

StraightNumbers is software that helps you keep digital records and prepare and submit UK tax — VAT, and Making Tax Digital for Income Tax (ITSA). It is a tool to help you meet your obligations. It is not tax, accounting or legal advice, and it does not replace a qualified accountant.

Your responsibility

You are responsible for the accuracy and completeness of the figures you submit to HMRC, and for meeting your own tax obligations and deadlines. Tax calculations and estimates shown in the software are indicative and should be confirmed with a qualified accountant before you rely on them.

Authority to submit

You must only submit data for a business that you own or are authorised to act for, and you confirm that each submission to HMRC is made with proper authority.

Sandbox and production

StraightNumbers can connect to HMRC's sandbox (test) environment and to the live production environment. Submissions made in the sandbox are not real and have no effect. Submissions made in production are real, legally-binding filings. You are responsible for selecting the correct environment.

No warranty and limitation of liability

The software is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind, express or implied. To the fullest extent permitted by law, the developer is not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of the software, including incorrect submissions, missed deadlines, or HMRC penalties. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law.

Acceptable use

You agree to use the software lawfully, to keep your access credentials secure, and not to use the software to submit information you know to be false or misleading to HMRC.

Changes to these terms

If these terms change, the updated version and its effective date will be published here, and the in-application copy will be updated accordingly.

Contact

Questions about these terms can be raised with the software provider through the contact details supplied with your copy of StraightNumbers.
